Should I speak to the investigator from the insurance company?

This is one of the questions we are most commonly asked. In short the answer is almost always “No”! This seems such a small thing but it can make such a big difference at the end of the case. From experience we know for a fact that most solicitors allow their clients to be interviewed by investigators retained by the insurance company and we have seen first- hand the damage this can do to a client’s case.
There is an old saying “loose lips sink ships”. In our experience this applies every bit as much to court cases as it does to naval warfare. Whilst you may think you have nothing to hide you would be surprised how comments that you think are completely innocent can, in the hands of the insurance company and their barrister, come back to haunt you.
Therefore, to be safe, the best advice is never to fraternise with the enemy by allowing yourself to be interviewed by one of their investigators.
